GARDEN WASTE COLLECTION SERVICE
Gardeners who have too much green
waste to compost at home can take advantage of the garden waste collection service
being operated by Hounslow Council* throughout the summer and winter.
Whether it’s grass clippings,
twigs, small branches, weeds or other pruning detritus,
the scheme will ensure that all garden
waste is put to good use - material collected is sent for central composting,
and the compost can be purchased from Space Waye, the Council’s Reuse and
Recycling Centre, for £2 per 70-litre bag.
The special biodegradable garden waste bags
are made of corn-starch, which
can be composted along with the garden waste. Therefore
it’s important not to use the bags for stones, gravel, soil,
rubble, food waste or general rubbish.
Winter
service 2007/2008
You are able to have
your garden waste (including Christmas trees)
collected over the winter period.
The garden waste collection service previously finished at the end of November, but now runs ALL year round. Over the winter period (from 26 November 2007 until 29 February 2008) you will need to contact ECT Recycling (see below) to book a collection.
Winter garden waste will be collected on the same day of the week as during the summer.
