If you are living in Chiswick (Hounslow borough residents) and you are included in the Green Box kerbside collection scheme*, the following items can be put in your Green Box for recycling:

• paper (all waste paper including junk mail, newspapers and magazines)
• cardboard (fold flat, keep separate from paper)
• food tins & drinks cans (rinsed and squashed)
• aerosol cans (remove plastic top, do not squash or puncture the cans or try to remove the plastic nozzle)
• glass bottles & jars (clear, brown and green/blue glass; remove tops/lids)
• aluminium foil, food trays, milk bottle tops (washed & squashed)
• textiles (clean items in a carrier bag - no black bags please)
• shoes (tied in pairs in a carrier bag - no black bags please)
• engine oil (in a sealed upright container that is clearly labelled)
• telephone directories & yellow pages (whole)
• household batteries (in a small plastic bag—alkaline batteries only: AAA, AA...)
• vehicle batteries (undamaged batteries only, leave beside Green Box)

Label your box(es) with your house number, either with paint or permanent marker, as this helps the crew to identify boxes and stops boxes going astray!

The Green Box door to door collection is now being offered to some low rise flats. If you live in a block of 4 storeys or less you may be able to join the collection service. In medium and high rise flats, recycling sites are being installed, specially designed for residents who have not previously been included on the Green Box scheme. If you live on an estate in the Borough of Hounslow and do not have any recycling facilities please call the Recycling Team on 020 8583 5555.
