THE CHISWICK RECYCLING DIRECTORY

This directory of recycling information has been compiled by CRAG for the residents of Chiswick.

You can collect a copy from Chiswick Library and the following local shops: As Nature Intended (201 Chiswick High Rd), Holland and Barrett (416 Chiswick High Rd), The Natural Cafe (216 Chiswick High Rd), The Natural Food Store (42 Turnham Green Terrace), West 4 Printers (8 Essex Place).
The directory will also be available from the CRAG stall at local events throughout the year.

The Chiswick Recycling Directory contains an A to Z of how and where you can recycle your unwanted items. It also lists details of products made from recycled materials and where you can buy them. There is a summary about what materials can be recycled via your green box and some useful tips on composting. You can also use the directory to look up local recycling points (bottle banks etc.) for your area, and find your nearest reuse/recycling centre

WHY RECYCLE?
Every year in Britain we produce 26 million tonnes of household waste – almost half a tonne per person. A fifth of London’s household rubbish is burnt in incinerators and most of the rest goes into landfill sites situated many miles out of the capital. Only 9% is recycled.
It is increasingly difficult to find new sites for incineration plants and areas to bury our rubbish. Additionally, many people are concerned about the health implications of incineration, the environmental impact of landfill and the growing costs of taxing the rubbish being put into landfill. In the future, disposing of our rubbish will become more and more expensive. In order to address this growing problem, it makes sense to recycle more and to look at new ways to reuse and reduce our household waste.

YOU CAN RECYCLE MORE THAN YOU THINK...
Much of the waste produced by households is NOT rubbish – it is material that could be reused or recycled. This directory is a comprehensive guide to reducing the amount of rubbish we need to dispose of and how and where we can recycle more of the things we don’t need anymore. We hope you will be surprised by just how much you can reuse and recycle, and by the interesting and practical ways that many materials and products can be reused.
Before throwing anything away, please check with this directory to see if it can be recycled or if anyone else can make use of your unwanted items.

All the information in the directory is listed on this website. However, if you would like a printed version of the directory please email info@crag-online.org.uk or contact The Recycling Team on 020 8583 5555 to request a copy.
