Do not put this in your Green Box or the glass recycling containers. This glass is designed to withstand very high temperatures and so can explode when heated up in the glass recycling furnace. If broken or damaged, wrap carefully, label accordingly and put out for general rubbish collection.

RAIN WATER
If you have space for a water butt, collect rain water for watering your garden. If you don't already have one, buy a water butt made from recycled materials. (See recycled products list)

REAL NAPPIES
Real nappies (made from cotton) can work out cheaper than disposables. They also don't have the gels and chemicals of disposable nappies and save on the amount of unbiodegradable waste going to landfill. Cotton nappies are no longer the traditional Terry's, but there are many new and trendy real nappies now on the market with great designs for your baby.
The Womens Environmental Network estimates that about 15% of parents now use real nappies—see www.wen.org.uk. WEN now runs the Real Nappy Project. For a free information leaflet and details about types of Real Nappies, contact the Recycling Team on 020 8583 5555.
